All or most of these events are avoidable – you are able to avoid them simply by becoming aware of the effects of poor posture and then doing something(s) to prevent or reverse these:
Physical events
- Fatigue arising from attempting to maintain your steady physical state against postural forces.
- Stress forces on joints, cartilage, muscles and tendons causing pain affecting the lower back, neck, shoulders, hips, knees and feet.
- Injury from chronic stress resulting in arthritis, bursitis, ruptured vertebral discs and nerve damage.
- Reduced breathing, blood circulation and nerve function.
- Accelerated aging due to reduced functions, reduced exercise, poor sleep and over-eating.
- Disturbed sleep leading to its own cascade, not least of which is reduced pain threshold.
- Pain and suffering and the resultant reduction in quality of life.
- Depression taking the place of optimism.
- Medication and/or other substance dependency.
- Lower confidence, self image and self esteem.
- Lower productivity and will to succeed.
- Lowered sexual function and drive.
- Reduced respectability and treatment on the part of others owing to “being past your prime”.
